Her Story
Veterinary Care Centered on Relationships
Dr. Eve Fontanella, MS, DVM, CCFP, is a 2018 graduate of Iowa State's College of Veterinary Medicine. She is Fear Free certified, a trained compassion fatigue professional, an end-of-life doula, and a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV).
Her CCFP (Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional) credential reflects her commitment not only to the animals she cares for, but to the families beside them — recognizing that supporting people through grief, fear, and difficult decisions is as important as the medical care itself.
The CHPV (Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian) certification, awarded through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC), represents the highest standard of training in veterinary end-of-life care — encompassing pain management, quality-of-life assessment, family communication, and the full spectrum of comfort-focused medicine.
Dr. Eve believes every pet deserves comfort, dignity, and gentle care throughout every stage of life. She takes the time to listen, guide, and create personalized care plans that honor each pet's unique needs and the bond you share — helping families feel supported, informed, and never alone.
Meet the Family
Apollo & PopTart
Apollo, a blue merle Border Collie, and PopTart, a tri-color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, are daily reminders of why this work matters — the quiet comfort of a familiar face, the bond built over years, and the peace that comes from being cared for at home.

A Special Focus
Palliative & End-of-Life Care
Among the most meaningful work Dr. Eve does is supporting families through the final stages of their pet's life. Hospice and palliative care for pets is a growing field, and one that Dr. Eve approaches with deep empathy and clinical expertise.
These conversations — about comfort, quality of life, and what a good ending looks like — are some of the most important a veterinarian can have. Dr. Eve believes families deserve time, guidance, and honesty, delivered with warmth and without pressure.
The Mobile Difference
Why Mobile Veterinary Care Changes Everything
Many pets are more relaxed at home. For senior pets, anxious pets, mobility-limited pets, and families navigating difficult decisions, in-home veterinary care can make the experience calmer and more personal.
Dr. Eve's goal is to bring careful medical attention, honest guidance, and compassionate support directly to the families she serves — without the stress of a clinic environment.
Mobile veterinary care is not simply a convenience. It is a different way to practice medicine — one centered around the pet, the family, and the home.
